Björne Carlsson says Goodbye
The Husaberg Factory Team bid farewell to Björne Carlsson at the final WEC round of 2009.

After 17 years of racing Husaberg on World Championship level Björne decided to retire at the end of this season.
His biggest achievement in his career was the 1998 Wolrd Championship title in the 400 4-stroke class.

Of course it was not easy for Björne to take this decision, but he thinks that it is the right time now to take the chance to spend more time with his family. Unfortunately Björne wasn't really able to once more show his full abilities, as the season already started with an injury in the very first test of the season in Portugal. Due to this injury, and another one at the GP of Finland, he missed more than half of the races.

Even at this last GP in France his chances of going out in glory were spoiled after he came down with a heavy cold this week and was forced to retire on day 1 in the second lap. “I managed the first lap but after that it was not possible to continue,” Carlsson said. “I have been sick all week and I really wanted my end of season to finish on a high note but that has not been possible.”

Nevertheless Björne will not completely stop riding motorcycles as he still really enjoys it. His last international event will be the ISDE, where he hopes to be fit again to be able to proof that he's still not one of the old guard and make a good result for the Swedish Trophy Team as well as for himself.

After this last highlight in his carreer Björne will still be racing in Sweden, where the last season highlight will be the Novemberkåsan in Falun. Björne finished last years Novemberkåsan in 2nd and will this year charge for victory on the new Husaberg FE 390.

Husaberg wants to say "Tack så mycket!" to Björne and wish him all the best for his and his families future.

And of yourse we hope that he will also spend the rest of his racing carreer on national level on a Husaberg.
