Scoop : Mika Ahola stoppe sa carrière

Grosse surprise en ce début d'année 2012 du pilote Finlandais,  après avoir annoncé son départ de chez Zannardo Honda pour aller Jotagas , Mika Ahola vient d'annoncer dans un communiqué qu'il mettait un terme a sa carrière enduro.

Après 21 ans de compétions Enduro compétitions et à l'âge de 37 ans je prend une décision difficile qui m'a demandé beaucoup de réflexion.

Le constat est que je n'ai plus assez de motivation pour continuer,  j'ai donc  prit la décison d'arrêter la course.
J'ai donné tout  pour ce sport et il m'a donné beaucoup en  retour, bien plus que je n'aurais put imaginer quand j'ai commencé l'enduro.
Au début j'ai tout gagné chez moi en Finlande. Ensuite je suis venu sur le  championnat du monde d'enduro dans différent team italien ou j'avais la vitesse mais j'ai raté 5 fois de peu le titre de champion du monde.

Puis, contre toute attente j'ai commencé à gagner des titres mondiaux à l'âge ou les autres pilotes prennent leur retraite. ça a été d'enfer de décrocher 5 titres consécutifs  dans les 3 catégories et en plus le dernier titre en tant que plus ancien champion de l'histoire ! Avec ce nouveaux record du monde en 2011, je crois que mon ambition pour ce sport est entièrement satisfaite.

Vous pouvez également ajouter 3 titres de champion du monde scratch même si la FIM ne fait plus ce classement scratch depuis  2004.  J'ai aussi remporté  3 fois le titre scratch au ISDE et  7 fois champion du monde par équipe avec le Team Finlandais aux 6 jours .

Mon ambition pour ce sport a été entièrement satisfaite et je sens qu'il est temps pour moi d'aller de l'avant et de voir ce que le monde a à m'offrir en plus de l''enduro. ! Enfin, je tiens à remercier toutes les personnes qui m'ont soutenu tout au long de ma carrière de pilote et tous les riders avec qui je me suis battus.

" After 21 years of Enduro competitions at the age of 37 Ihave come to a decision that took a lot of self-examination and soul-searching.
The outcome was that I don’t have anymore enough ambition to continue so I will retire from racing.
I have given everything I’ve got for this sport and although it has taken much, it has given me back more than I could have ever imagined when I started racing.

First I won everything in my homeland, Finland, and become the fastest snow rider in the world. Then I threw myself in the world championships riding for different Italian teams and proved myself to be fast but 5 times landing just one position short of a world champion’s title.

Then, against all odds I started winning world titles at the age when most talked about retiring. It has been a hell of a ride: 5 consecutive world titles won in all three categories and the last one won as the oldest champion of the history! With these new world records set on 2011 I feel my ambition for this sport completely satisfied. You can add up also 3 overall champion’s title seven though FIM hasn’t recognized overall titles since 2004.

I have been also the fastest rider overall at the I.S.D.E. 3 times and 7 times I have been also a rider of Finland’s winning team. My ambition for this sport has been completely satisfied and I feel like it’s time for me to move on and see what else the world has to offer than racing! Finally, I want to thank all the people who have supported me throughout my racing career and all the riders I have been battling with! "
