Buying Guide 2026: Which SIDI boots to choose for enduro and cross?

SIDI is a true institution in the off-road world. For decades, the Italian brand has been chasing the greatest champions with a reputation that no longer needs to be done: sturdy boots, extremely protective, and of which almost all parts are replaceable.
In recent years, however, the SIDI catalogue has expanded considerably. Between the undeboltable Crossfire 3, the new ultra-light revolution Crossair, and the daunting quality/price ratio of the X-Power, it is not always easy to navigate. At Freenduro, we have dehulled the 2026 range to help you choose the pair that will perfectly match your practice and your budget.

What you need to know before choosing your SIDI boots
- The evolution of the hemline (width): this is a major piece of information from the latest tests. If the SIDI Crossfire has a reputation for narrow boots (justified reputation, which can cause discomfort for those with wide feet), the new ranges (Crossair and X-Power) offer a slightly wider slipper at the toe area, better suited to so-called “standard” or “wide” feet. The Crossfire remains faithful to the fine Italian shoe.
- Durability vs. repairability: SIDI is the queen brand of the spare part for these boots and especially for the Crossfire, where almost everything is replaceable in case of breakage. However, with the Crossair range (inheritor of the Atojo), the brand has taken a turn: less screws and interchangeable parts in favor of lightness.
- Update 2026: the range benefits from the new material Technomicro (more flexible when running in) and sole Materiis, a technical compound with an exceptional grip on the footrests and high abrasion resistance. In addition, all SIDI 2026 incorporate very fine thermal protection. The aim is to stay as close as possible to the bike to better “feel” its machine between the legs, a point where SIDI often outperforms the larger competition.
1. The CROSSFIRE 3 range: the SIDI Reference Boot
The Sidi Crossfire 3 remains the benchmark for pure protection and durability. It is a complex boot, heavy, but very protective and virtually immortal. It is the investment in profitability par excellence: it can be kept for 5 to 8 years simply by changing the wear parts.
- Concept: it is a construction game. Everything is disassembled and replaced (tibia plates, pivots, buckles, kick protection).
- Protection: it has the most rigid pivot system (anti-hyperextension system). It is the boot that will save your ankle on a huge jump that is too short or a violent frontal shock.
- Weight: it is the heaviest in the range (approx. 2.08 kg per boot). We can feel the weight at the end of the day, but that is the price of this shockproof ‘blinding’.
SIDI Crossfire 3 SRS (replaceable sole system)
The iconic model where everything is replaceable, including the sole. It is changed with a simple screwdriver (quarter turn screw system). It is the favourite boot for those who quickly use their soles on sharp footrests.
- Particularity: maximum protection of the ankle. Very wide calf adjustment system to accept all orthotics, even the largest ones.
- Use: competition, intensive motocross, technical enduro.
SIDI Crossfire 3
Same structure as the SRS, but with a sewn sole and metal tip. It offers a finer and more flexible feel under the foot, favored by some drivers for better precision of brake and selector controls. Attention: braiding will require the intervention of a professional.

2. The CROSSAIR range: the New SIDI Revolution
The Crossair replaces the Atojo range. Externally, it seems more minimalist (less massive on the front) than the Crossfire, but it is a digest of Sidi’s technological know-how in terms of security. Why is it more expensive than the Crossfire? because it uses noble materials such as fibreglass to gain weight without losing rigidity. It is the flagship of the current boot.
- The shape “profile point”: SIDI has corrected the too round toe of the old generations. The tip is higher and steeper, making it easier to lock the selector, a treat for those with small feet.
- Structure: fiberglass exoskeleton. It is rigid, protective, but ultra-light.
- Materiis sole: Although not replaceable by the user (unlike SRS), SIDI ensures that this new compound is much more resistant to tearing than standard gums. The hook is described as “sticking” on the footrests.
Common characteristics:
- Internal fibreglass exoskeleton: for controlled rigidity without the weight of massive plastic.
- 3-point hyperflection limiter: essential safety to avoid sprains during frequent ground support during crossings.
SIDI Crossair HD (hard enduro special) - Billy Bolt's choice
Specifically developed for the hard enduro, it is the boot worn by champion Billy Bolt (often seen in its bright pink and white colour).
- Minimalism: only 3 loops and a large upper Velcro. It is the lightest in the range (1700g). This weight gain drastically reduces leg muscle fatigue in technical passages.
- Trial sole: a stitched sole, without a marked heel, for total freedom of movement on the footrests and an excellent grip on slippery terrain when you have to push the bike.
- Use: hard enduro, crossing, pilots seeking freedom of movement and grip on the ground.
SIDI Crossair X
Concept: a perfect mix between a Crossair and a Crossfire. It is the most expensive boot because it combines the feather weight of the glass fibre with the maintenance of a traditional cross-country boot.
- Increased protection: it takes over the 4 loops (for a more homogeneous clamping on the kick) and has a reinforced tibia plate.
- Use: classic enduro, cross-country, motocross.

3. The X-POWER family: comfort and traction
Often perceived as the entry-level, the X-Power is actually a high-performance boot that relies on comfort. She's a lot more fluffy on the inside thanks to generous foams that marry the foot immediately.
Technical & safety points:
- Flexibility: less rigid than the ‘Cross’ series, it does not have such a marked mechanical ankle stop. Freenduro expertise: This model is perfect for hiking, but will show its limits in pure safety on very big motocross jumps or in high-speed enduro stones.
- Weight: it is one of the lightest in the catalogue (approx. 1.72 kg), surprisingly easy to take out of the box.
SIDI X-Power Enduro
It is distinguished by its aggressive sole with large cleats. It is the ideal weapon for those who often have to get off a motorcycle to push into the mud.
- Use: hiking, enduro leisure, enduro technical.
SIDI X-Power Enduro WP (waterproof)
The only waterproof enduro boot in the Sidi range thanks to its Gore Tex inner membrane. Important note: the waterproofing is great in winter because you keep your feet dry and you are less cold, but be careful, this waterproof membrane slightly reduces the breathing of the foot in the middle of summer. This is the price to pay to stay dry in winter.
SIDI X-Power SC (Standard)
The simplified version but with 4 buckles and with smooth sewn sole. Robust and effective to start cross-country or ride an enduro hike.

4. SIDI Agueda: Accessible entry-level
The Sidi Agueda is the most affordable model of the Italian brand. It is aimed at beginners or occasional practitioners who want to benefit from Sidi manufacturing quality without investing in more expensive technology models.
- Simplicity: it offers a more classic structure with 4 buckles and a traditional sewn sole. Less articulate than her older sisters, she requires a slightly longer break-in time.
- Protection: it provides the essentials with reinforcements for malleoles, tibia and a metal tip, but it does not have the advanced pivot systems of the higher ranges.
- Use: off-road initiation, quiet leisure hiking, tight budget.

The Freenduro verdict: which SIDI boots for you?
- The demanding competitor: the Crossfire 3 SRS remains unbeatable for its protection and its ability to be refurbished season after season. It is the rational purchase for the one who drives a lot.
- The crossing pilot (Hard Enduro): the Crossair HD is a revolution. Weight gain dramatically reduces fatigue and the grip of the Trial sole is a real major asset when climbing. It is the most technical boot on the market.
- The hiker’s hard-bodied: the X-Power Enduro offers the best comfort. If you have a slightly wide foot and are looking for an easy-going boot from the first outing, this is the most consistent choice.
- The all-season adventurer: the X-Power WP is the only serious option to keep your feet dry without going on too soft hiking boots.
- Beginners on a tight budget: the Sidi Agueda makes it possible to equip oneself with the seriousness of the Italian trade mark for a contained price, ideal for an occasional leisure practice.
Advice for cutting & maintenance: on news Crossair and X-Power, the slipper is more welcoming. However, the SIDI golden rule remains: take a size above of your usual size. On the maintenance side, avoid the high-pressure cleaner directly on the fiberglass joints of the Crossairs to preserve the fluidity of the pivot. A shot of silicone lubricant after each wash will do miracles on the longevity of your curls.
Technical zoom: the history of the Materiis® sole
Did you know that most boot manufacturers buy their soles from third-party suppliers? Sidi chose another route: independence. The Materiis® sole (from Latin materia, the material) is developed and manufactured directly by Sidi in Italy.
The aim was to respond to four often conflicting constraints:
- hanging on the footrests: the compound must be firm enough not to deform under the support, but flexible enough to provide accurate feedback.
- adhesion on hard soil: Whether on the bitumen of a service station or on a wet stone slab in the woods, the sole must bite to avoid slipping when stopped.
- off-road traction: the design of the studs is designed to remove the mud and not to turn your boot into a ski as soon as you put your foot in a greasy climb.
- walking capacity: Unlike rigid motocross soles, the Materiis® structure allows you to walk long distances without pain, a crucial point in enduro when you have to recognise an area or push the machine.

Focus particularities boot Crossair X
If the Crossair HD is Billy Bolt’s weapon for the extreme crossing, the Crossair X is arguably the most versatile model in Sidi’s history. It is aimed at pilots who mix practices: a weekend on a motocross circuit, the next in technical hiking in the paths.
- Protections: thanks to its 3-point bending system, it allows a natural movement of the ankle while blocking any dangerous hyperextension.
- Impact resistance: the use of microfibres from the world of professional motocross ensures a boot that does not tear on first contact with a root or protruding stone.
- long-term comfort: its lighter structure reduces muscle fatigue on multi-hour outings, a huge advantage over a very heavy traditional cross-country boot.
