How to choose a GPS tracker for your motorcycle?

The 6 key criteria below should guide your choice before investing:

  1. Type of power supply : a model connected to the motorcycle battery offers infinite autonomy and responsive live tracking (every 1 to 30 seconds). Battery-powered standalone models are perfect for motorcycles without a battery or to avoid touching the beam.
  2. Network coverage : Focus on international multi-operator 4G connectivity for seamless travel abroad.
  3. Anti-theft security : shake sensor, travel alert, power outage and virtual barriers (geofence).
  4. Pilot protection : Emergency call accident detection (eCall) brings real added value for lone riders.
  5. Watertightness : an IP65 to IP68 rating is required to withstand washing and rolling in rain or mud.
  6. Congestion : Check the available space under your saddle or behind your fairings before choosing the size of the case.

Where to hide a GPS tracker on a motorcycle?

Motorcycle Battery GPS Tracker Connection

The ideal location must be difficult access for thieves while preserving the proper transmission of satellite and cellular waves. Even if the space under the saddle remains the most common, think of fairing flanks, air boxes or behind an optical block.

Two basic rules for laying:

  1. Avoid intense heat sources : Keep the tracer away from the engine and exhaust.
  2. Do not hide the antenna : avoid imprisoning the housing under a dense aluminium or steel plate that would make Faraday cage.

Motorcycle insurance and GPS tracker

Several specialised insurers (such as Mutuelle des Motards or AMV) recognise the effectiveness of approved motorcycle GPS trackers. Depending on the contracts, the installation of a tracker may entitle you to a reduction in the annual premium or to the cancellation of the flight deductible.

Keep your purchase invoice and your proof of active subscription: they will be the key documents required by the insurance expert in the event of a claim.

What to do if your two-wheeler is stolen?

  1. Immediately check the live trace on the smartphone app.
  2. Notify the police station or gendarmerie : immediately transmit the exact GPS coordinates without attempting to intervene alone.
  3. File a complaint within 24 hours and send your claim to the insurer within 48 working hours.

Conclusion: Which motorcycle GPS tracker to choose?

  • GeoRide Mini : for maximum all-in-one safety with automatic emergency call.
  • PAJ VEHICLE Finder 4G 2.0 : for the best anti-theft equipment on battery at the lowest price on the market.
  • Sentinel Mini (Sentidrive) : for those who do not want any wires connected to the battery of their motorcycle.

I strongly advise against Invoxia trackers. The price has risen sharply for accuracy really but then really not efficient enough. The network used is not yet sufficiently developed in France, especially in the countryside. Result: my tracker very often limits only once per village and sometimes it limits only once in 30 kms. impossible to find your motorcycle / car with as little precision ...

I recommend just a small modification in your article.
You indicate in the advice for the choice "Autonomy: Choose a motorcycle GPS tracker without subscription with a good battery life or connected to that of the motorcycle/scooter."
And you put in bold No subscription.

Then you only offer trackers with GPS (I do not consider the AirTag as a GPS tracker since it is not based on GPS but on the devices that surround it).

Have a good day

Thank you for noting this error
we agree for the Airtag ... but it's probably still an inexpensive alternative for those who do not want to invest in a real GPS tracker
