Finding a new pair of jerseys and trousers (for enduro or motocross) for less than €100 at the list price was already a feat a few seasons ago; today, with the general increase in manufacturing and transport costs, it has become almost impossible without massive destocking operations. At the writing of Freenduro, we decided to start a challenge by setting a ceiling at 130 € at the recommended public rate (excluding discounts or promotions — we started from the manufacturer’s catalogue price) to find quality pants and jersey sets. By searching well, we retained five offers from the real entry-levels of reputable brands (Leatt, Shot, Raven, Fly Racing and Answer). Here is our selection of the most relevant outfits on the market, sifted through the constraints of enduro.

The three points to watch before buying first

Unlike motocross, where you ride on an open track for 15 minutes, enduro imposes specific constraints that economic outfits manage with varying degrees of success:

• Contact with the exhaust: To reduce costs, almost all manufacturers remove genuine leather inner panels at the knees and replace them with nylon or reinforced polyester. On a 4-stroke with the tube heating white, the textile melts in a few seconds of prolonged support.
• Space for knee pads: the modern fit cuts from the cross sometimes leave too little room to put on real orthotics or voluminous articulated knee pads without restricting the movement.
• Resistance to snags: Ultra-light open mesh jerseys quickly turn into shreds when in contact with brambles and low branches in the paths.

• Technical data sheet: Ripstop tear-resistant textile trousers and X-Flow ventilated panels; genuine leather interior reinforcement on the right knee ; YKK zips; 360° size clamping with silicone; stretch jersey compatible with or without vest and stonewalls.
• On the ground: the presence of the leather on the right inner side changes absolutely everything for 4-stroke owners, eliminating the anxiety of the trousers pierced by the collector in a cant. Ripstop weaving offers a much higher than average resistance to brambles.
• Please note: sold as an inseparable whole, which prevents you from mismatching sizes if you have a very wide bust and very thin legs (or vice versa).

2. Shot Draw outfit – €108.98 (light tricolour option)

The French brand Shot regularly renews its entry-level with modern and dynamic designs. The Draw set (pants at €79.99 and jersey at €28.99) focuses on comfort and freedom of movement.

• Technical data sheet: pants advertised at 580 g in size 32; polyester frame 600 deniers; stretch inserts at the crotch, knees and back of the legs; micrometric loop; raglan cut jersey with elongated back pan.
• On the ground: it is the most fluid and pleasant outfit to wear in special or on hot days. The pants are totally forgotten thanks to its many stretchable areas and its feather weight.
• Please note: 600D polyester is wear-resistant, but the knee panels remain synthetic. Beware of hot collectors. The mesh of the jersey also requires some attention in aggressive undergrowth.

3. Raven RV-Two – €107.98 (direct access 24MX)

Developed by online sales giant 24MX for its own brand, the RV-Two outfit (pants at €79.99 and jersey at €27.99) offers a very aggressive value for money thanks to the direct-manufacturer short circuit.

• Technical data sheet: reinforced 600D nylon chassis on the seat and inside of the legs; preformed legs; stretch mesh lower leg to fit neatly into the boot; breathable jersey in multi-panel polyester.
• On the ground: the reinforcement at the buttocks is well designed to withstand continuous friction on an abrasive or mud-filled enduro saddle. The cut is classic, without frills but functional.
• Please note: the finishes are more basic than at Leatt or Shot, and the thermal protection of the inside of the leg remains made of thick synthetic textile. A set available only on the web.

4. Fly Racing F-16 outfit – €119.90 (mechanical safe value)

Fly Racing's F-16 range (pants at €89.95 and jersey at €29.95) is one of the most installed references on the off-road market. It is renowned for its overall longevity over several driving seasons.

• Technical data sheet: High density 600D polyester; proven YKK main zip; size closure by notched micrometric loop; pre-formed ergonomic knees; integral net lining; polyester jersey with stretch collar without annoying label.
• On the ground: the standard cut, which is neither too loose nor too tight, adapts without any difficulty to the articulated knee pads. YKK closure and reinforced seams handle repeated mud sessions and frequent machine washes without flinching.
• Please note: a sober outfit, very robust in terms of closures, but which overlooks the inner leather and turns out to be a little warm in the middle of summer.

5. Answer Racing Syncron – €106.90 (the historic first US prize)

Present for decades in race parks, Answer Racing’s Syncron range (pants for €79.95 and jersey for €26.95) is the lowest access rate for major historic American brands.

• Technical data sheet: assembly of Oxford and multi-denier polyester fabrics; extendable panels at the lower back and joints; high tenacity nylon reinforcements on the knees; lower leg without rigid elastic; breathable jersey with unalterable sublimated graphics.
• On the ground: the Answer design is particularly successful at the ankle level: the absence of too thick a hem prevents any unpleasant pressure points once the boots are locked. The outfit ages well in terms of color after multiple switches to the high-pressure cleaner.
• Please note: the ventilation on the trousers is rather sketchy, and the knee reinforcements remain sensitive to the direct heat of the exhaust pipes.

Technical summary

On paper, the prices are set in a handkerchief of around EUR 20. Yet, the Leatt Ride Kit 3.5 stands out clearly from the lot for an enduro practice: its interior leather panel on the right definitely solves the problem of pants melted on the exhaust, a recurring problem on all other entry-level outfits on the market.

If you are looking for the most airy and lightest package to drive in the summer without feeling intoxicated, the Shot Draw remains an excellent alternative under the 110 € mark. Finally, for those who prefer the durability of closures in the face of mud and intensive washing, the Fly F-16 retains all its legitimacy thanks to its YKK zip and its regular cutting.
